JAMMU, Nov 27: The death of a 30-year-old woman under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws’ residence in Paloura has triggered outrage among her family and relatives, who alleged that she was murdered.
The deceased, identified as Anamika, had been attending her younger sister’s wedding at Badyalechak when her husband, Dharamveer Singh, suddenly arrived, citing his mother’s critical illness, and took her back to his house. However, within two hours, the family received a call from Anamika’s in-laws, claiming she had committed suicide.
Family members expressed disbelief over the suicide claim, questioning how she could have taken such a step while happily participating in her sister’s marriage festivities. “We rushed to her in-laws’ house, but no one was there. They had already taken her to the hospital,” said a relative, further adding that the circumstances seemed highly suspicious.
The in-laws alleged Anamika hanged herself, but her family strongly suspected foul play, accusing them of murdering her. Angered by the incident, her relatives staged a massive protest at Paloura Chowk, blocking traffic for several hours and demanding justice. Protesters called for an impartial probe and immediate arrest of those responsible for her death.
Inspector Pawan Dogra, SHO Janipur, stated that a postmortem was conducted by a board of doctors, and the body was handed over to the family. “We have documented the crime scene through videography and photography. The investigation is ongoing, and the deceased’s husband has been detained for questioning,” he said.
As the case unfolds, the family continues to demand a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind Anamika’s death. Authorities are urging patience as forensic and investigative findings emerge to shed light on this tragic incident.
